Louvignies Castle, a Belle Époque home

Reception rooms, kitchen, laundry room and an English landscape park: a private residence to discover on advertised dates or by reservation.

A residence transformed over the centuries

In Louvignies, the visit tells the story of a home as much as a château. A medieval tower is documented from 1389; the property entered the current owners' family in 1716. In the 1870s, architect Désiré Limbourg redesigned the ensemble according to the eclectic taste of his time. Louis Fuchs designed the landscape park from 1870. This succession explains the site's interest: an older home became a residence expressing comfort, social standing and family habits in the late 19th century.

Château life also passed through the laundry room

The most revealing anecdote is not about a battle. The official presentation invites visitors to discover an ironing room with its wooden mangle, a kitchen with copper pans and preserved clothing. These objects reveal the labour required to run a large house. They place service rooms in the same story as drawing rooms. Belle Époque decoration becomes a daily organisation of skills, materials and relationships between household and staff.

Booking the house and planning the final stretch

The château remains private property. Groups should enquire about reservations, while individual visitors must check advertised dates with the château or Soignies Tourist Office. Confirm which rooms and parts of the park are included. Neufvilles SNCB station is the nearby station for this rural area. Then arrange a bicycle, pre-booked taxi or connection checked through the TEC planner to the meeting point at rue de Villegas 1. Arriving at Soignies may be more convenient depending on trains and the final transport chosen. Organise the return before setting out too; no regular château shuttle is advertised here.
