Walibi Belgium, an adventure to share
Walloon Brabant can also be discovered by taking to the heights, laughing and entering another world around the next corner. In Wavre, Walibi Belgium combines a popular Belgian story with a theme park that keeps changing.

From a stretch of water to a familiar park
Initially, Eddy Meeùs was interested in cable water-skiing. Buying land with a pond in 1972 laid the groundwork for a project that took another direction after he met a ride manufacturer. Walibi opened on 26 July 1975. The park brought together very different activities, and its day ticket was part of the experience's novelty. That starting point is worth recalling: behind today's familiar name lay an entrepreneur's initiative and an idea for a day out to share.
A small detail in the name, deeply local
Walibi brings to mind the marsupial that became its mascot, but the name combines the first syllables of Wavre, Limal and Bierges. This detail keeps the park connected with its home area, even as its image travels far beyond the province. The kangaroo's story and the park's identity changes now belong to several generations' memories. At Wallonie Gourmande, we also appreciate these contemporary places that enter collective memory: a first ride, a school trip or a family reunion can matter in a region's history.
Worlds that renew the experience
The park has undergone several transformations, including the Six Flags period and the return of the Walibi name in 2005. More recent investment has strengthened the themed worlds and the staging of routes. For its fiftieth anniversary in 2025, Dock World and Mecalodon added a new chapter to this evolution. That changes how you visit: you move not just from one machine to another, but between atmospheres, settings and experiences designed for different audiences. This variety lets a group shape the day around its own interests.
Thrills and family adventures
Kondaa, opened in 2021, illustrates the park's ambitions for major roller coasters. Manufacturer Intamin designed it as a Mega Coaster integrated into Exotic World. On another scale, Mecalodon offers a family ride close to the water, with several launches in a fishing-village setting. Enjoyment does not depend on choosing a single attraction for everyone: it also comes from variety. Check the height restrictions and access conditions for each experience before visiting, so everyone can prepare for the day with confidence.
Prepare your outing to make more of it
Aqualibi, the neighbouring water park opened in 1987, is a separate option with its own access and conditions. It should not be confused with an attraction automatically included in every Walibi visit. For the theme park, we recommend looking at the calendar, map and rides suited to your group before leaving, then allowing room for breaks. Bierges-Walibi station also offers a way to arrive by train near the site. Our selection makes room for entertainment here: a tourist attraction does not need to be a château to tell a region's story. Walibi does so through innovation, imagination and the moments visitors take home with them.
